It was a sad day for Suresh Kumar in early October as locals seized him and hacked off his genitals with a meat cleaver in Ganganagar, Rajasthan state, India after passersby heard a teenage girl’s screams for help and stumbled upon Kumar attempting to rape a teenager. The angry mob beat him with sticks for about an hour before ensuring he never does it again by dragging him into a butcher’s shop and castrating him.
The severed genitalia were then dumped in the middle of the road with Kumar’s bleeding body nearby. The rapist was eventually taken to hospital where doctors described his condition as critical. The girl was treated for shock, and given counseling.
An eye witness was reported as saying: “We have had a lot of intolerable offences against women in this country recently, with girls being raped, hung, and molested, and it’s time it stopped. This sends out a very strong message to anyone like that – if you do it you will be punished.”
However, the police is not amused and have called for those responsible to come forward, saying people can’t take the law into their own hands. They also asked those men who carried out this attack to hand themselves in before the police find them.
