President of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) Amaju Pinncik said that they sent Emem Eduok out of the home- based Eagles camp because he would be a distraction to the team.
Eduok has been in the news lately after it emerged that he signed contracts with two clubs, and was on Tuesday decamped from the Nigerian camp in Abuja.
The 20-year old striker agreed a deal with Norwegian side Sarsporg 08 and also signed a deal with Esperance of Tunisia.
Pinnick revealed that federation is displeased with the transfer tussle involving the player, adding that he was sent out in order for him not to be a bad egg in the Nigerian team.
The home-based Eagles are currently in a camp in Abuja preparing for their forthcoming games against Ivory Coast and Sudan, which will be played in Dubai.
“We are not happy with the cloud of controversy over his transfer issue and it is a terrible distraction to the team and Nigeria football generally,” Pinnick said.
“Telling him to leave the camp does not mean we are indicting him. We will carry out an investigation and whoever is found guilty, be he/she an agent or player manager or an official of his club, will be duly sanctioned.”
“We have to send him (Edouk) out of camp to serve as a deterrent to others,” he said. “We are not blaming the player for anything yet; investigation will unravel who is guilty. But the distraction and controversy the matter has generated is not good for the camp.”
