The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo earlier on Friday revealed that the federal government and the Nigerian Labour Congress have finally reached an agreement over the new minimum wage adjustment.
Keyamo wrote on his offiial Twitter page at 3:22 AM that the agreement was reached after about four days of prolonged meeting between the representatives of the government and the organised labour. The minister said the two parties after the long deliberations came up with terms of Settlement on the different percentages of adjustments.
Keyamo tweeted: “After some delicate negotiations (with both Ministers as conciliators) Government & Labour have finally reached an agreement on the consequential adjustments of other wages following the implementation of the enhanced minimum wage of N30,000. We are now working on the communique.
“At about 3 am this morning, we signed this Terms of Settlement b/w Govt & Labour which reveals different percentages of adjustments in other wages after the minimum wage adjustment. Those of the law-enforcement agencies have also been done, but are not captured in this Memorandum”.
