Don Jazzy pens down appreciation message to fans as Mavin Records clocks 7
Foremost Nigerian record label, Mavin Records, also known as the Supreme Mavin Dynasty, clocked seven years on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 and Mavin CEO, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy has shown gratitude to fans of the group.
The label was founded on May 8, 2012 following the closure of Mo’ Hits Records which was owned by Don Jazzy and Nigerian entertainer D’banj.
The award-winning record producer took to Instagram to share a appreciation message to fans and supporters stating:
We will like to say a big thank you to all our fans and business partners for the love and support through the years. Mavin is 7 today and I am sooooo proud of what we have been able to achieve. GOD has been faithful. We had some down times but I will be lying if I tell you I didn’t learn a lot from those times. Those down times made me and the team stronger and wiser than ever. I love and believe so much in my team. That been said, by the power vested in me, with so much fire in my belly, on behalf of the SUPREME MAVIN DYNASTY I say to every Mavin out there that #AllisInOrder
The label is home to topmost recording artistes including Korede Bello, Aphrodija, Dr Sid, D’Prince, DNA Twins, Johnny Drille, Rema and Poe.
Recently, award-winning singer, Tiwa Savage left the group to join Universal Music Group (UMG), an American global music corporation.
THE JOURNEY SO FAR
Mavin Records inception came to fruition following D’banj’s departure from Mo’ Hits. Mavin, according to Don Jazzy, describes someone who is gifted and skilled in any field which was why he chose the name for his record label.
Upon establishing the rebranded record label, Don Jazzy said he sees Mavin Records being the power house of music in Africa in the shortest possible time. After rebranding Mo’ Hits to Mavin, Don Jazzy signed Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage because he admires the singer’s work ethic and drive. He thereafter signed producers Aluko “Altims” Timothy and Sunday “BabyFresh” Enejere.
In February 2014, Don Jazzy signed Di’Ja, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello to Mavin Records a week after each other. On October 31, 2016, several media outlets in Nigeria reported that Iyanya signed a record deal with Mavin Records. Both Iyanya and Don Jazzy confirmed the report on Instagram. On February 28, 2017, Don Jazzy announced the signings of Johnny Drille, Poe and the DNA Twins to Mavin Records. In March 2019, he also announced the signing of Rema to Mavin.

Individuals in the Mavin crew have had several endorsement deals that have made them a force not to be underestimated in the music industry. Don Jazzy will definitely sign in more extraordinary artistes to keep the label going as we know him not to be the type to relegate.
