The All Progressives Congress has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of instigating the impeachment of former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, by offering member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly $300,000 each to sack the governor.
The National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, who stated this at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, said the party will challenge the impeachment in court adding that the president is equally orchestrating the impeachment of another APC governor in the person of Governor Umaru Al Makura of Nasarawa State.
According to him, “some N500 million has been moved to Nasarawa to induce the state’s lawmakers to impeach Governor Al Makura while in Edo State, each lawmaker had been offered N75 million to impeach Governor Adams Oshiomhole.”
He said President Goodluck Jonathan’s action against the governors was because of their membership of the opposition party, warning that if the President was not called to order, the hope of sustaining the country’s fragile democracy would be dashed.
He said the President was guiltier of the charges which the state lawmakers leveled against governors they were threatening with impeachment.
