Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger on Monday evening faced the media ahead of his side’s second leg round of 16 champions league tie away to Bayern Munich, but also took time to answer questions from the media on his side’s chances of winning the FA cup after City’s shocking defeat to Wigan in the quarter finals.
Arsenal have emerged favorite to win the FA Cup after City were sent packing on Sunday night, thus giving them a big chance to end the clubs nine years spell without a major silverware. While fielding questions on the FA cup favourite tag, Wenger admitted his team are now the clear favourits but also sounded a note of warning on Wigan’s resolve which City didn’t take note of.
“The consistency of Wigan shows they can deal with the pressure of the Cup. We are warned by that. I agree we are favourites but that doesn’t win you games, only performance win you games,” he said.
The gaffer also spoke on his team’s chances of overturning the two goal deficit suffered at the hands of Bayern Munich three weeks ago at the Emirates. According to him, Arsenal can draw inspiration from previous memorable nights in Europe but will have to be at their best to have any chance of upsetting the current kings of World and European club football.
In his words: “we have had a few good nights in Europe but if we win tomorrow, it would be absolutely great. We hope to turn up at our best, and if we do then we have a chance.”
