France have beaten Nigeria 2-0 to reach the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Brazil.
Nigeria were the first to put the ball in the back of the net when Emmanuel Emenike turned in a cross but it was disallowed because the Nigerian striker was offside.
France midfielder Paul Pogba had the best chance of the first half when his volley was saved brilliantly by Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.
France finally made the breakthrough when Enyeama, who had made a number of great saves, failed to punch a corner clear and Pogba nodded home the loose ball.
Antoine Griezmann then nicked home a Mathieu Valbuena cross to seal the result. France will now play either Algeria or Germany in the quarterfinals.
