Speculations about postponement of the February 2015 elections have been put to rest after the National Council of States rose from its meeting on Thursday with directive for INEC to go ahead with the election as scheduled.
At the end of the eight-hour meeting, members also agreed that elections could be postponed in troubled zones — areas ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency.
Also discussed at the meeting was the issue the nation’s security. All former Heads of State except Olusegun Obasanjo were present at the meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.
