Nigeria’s U-23 Team To Depart for Congo

The Nigeria U-23 side will depart for Pointe-Noire, Congo on Thursday for the second leg of the Africa U-23 Championship qualifier against Congo.

The Samson Siasia-led side defeated Claude Leroy’s side 2-1 in the first leg of the tie thanks to a second half brace from Shooting Stars forward Junior Ajayi.

Ajayi scored two quick goals in the 47th and 51st minutes to put the Dream Team 2-0 up before Moise Kounkou pulled one back for the visitors.

According to VON, the duo of Osmanlispor forward Umar Aminu and Abdullahi Shehu from Uniao da Madeira are expected in camp Tuesday night for the game while Kingsley Sokari has joined up for the game.

The winner between Nigeria and Congo will qualify for the Africa U-23 Championship in Senegal which will serve as the final qualifiers for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.
