The newly elected members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have been challenged to make laws and policies that would bring succor to the people of the State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission’s Resident Electoral Commissioner of the State, REC, Akin Orebiyi threw the challenge at the lawmakers while presenting certificates of return to them on Wednesday.

Selfless service
Orebiyi urged the legislators to render selfless service while in office and refrain from discriminating against any group or individual.

“The need for elected officers to put in place policies and programmes as well as activities that will bring greater succor to the people is never as crucial as now; service to all should be the key rule for all,” he stated.

He also solicited for the cooperation of all stakeholders with the commission, to further improve its performance in future elections.

“The commission is mindful of the areas which still needs to be improved and will endeavour to incorporate the improvement for future elections,” the REC added.

Thirty two All Progressives Congress, APC lawmakers and eight from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will be sitting in the chambers of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
