Xmas Sales: Lagos poultry association holds maiden farmers’ market

Erikorodo Poultry Farmers Association in Ikorodu area of Lagos, says it will hold first maiden farmers’ market for residents to purchase poultry produce at affordable prices.

Mrs Juliannah Ibitoye, the Chairperson Erikorodo Poultry Estate Farmers Association, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos.

Ibitoye told NAN that the market is first of its kind in Ikorodu.

She said that the programme would hold on Dec. 21, at Erikorodo Farm Estate, Itokin Road, by Lucky Fiber, Ikorodu, Lagos.

Ibitoye listed items to be sold at farm gate price to include eggs, chicken, turkey, fish, fruits, yams and vegetables among others.

She said the association would create a market within the estate for farmers to display their produce from 8:00 a.m.

Ibitoye described the maiden edition of farmers’ market as part of efforts to provide a platform for Lagosians to purchase food items at an affordable price for the yuletide season.

“We are organising this market to eliminate the middleman or intermediary that usually exploit people during the Yuletide.

“The items are straight from the farms and at reduced price.

“We are aware of the present challenges in the country and we want to support in our own way to provide poultry produce to consumers at affordable prices.

“This is to help our people cope with the high cost of living so that they can put food on their tables during the Yuletide.

“We want the general public to take advantage of the maiden edition of the market to purchase various fresh food items for the forthcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations at very affordable prices,” she said.

Ibitoye urged residents of Ikorodu and its environs to take advantage of the initiative to purchase various fresh food items for the forthcoming Christmas and New Year.
