By Ayomide Oriade
In what is clearly a new-found recognition for the contributions and relevance of the advertising industry towards nation-building by the federal government, the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) has been invited to participate in the all-important review and re-formulation of the Nigerian brand at the National Conference coming up later in the year.
The development has created palpable excitement as majority of the stakeholders have begun to rally round advertising amazon and AAAN president, Mrs. Bunmi Oke who is poised to make an excellent representation of the advertising community as well as make a glowing difference in what is Nigeria’s first true rebranding process in decades.
However, the development has not come without the intrigues associated with a body suddenly recognized by government after years of building proudly Nigerian brands from the back-stage as some practitioners believed that rather than have the AAAN president automatically represent the industry, some sort of election ought to have been conducted. They have since however been better informed.
On her part Mrs. Bunmi Oke is reaching out to the different generations of advertising practitioners on how best to use this platform to elevate Brand Nigeria through this internal rebranding exercise. BRANDPOWER will keep you posted on unfolding developments.
