In recognition of Lagos State’s enduring political legacy and the pivotal role of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), renowned political journalist and publisher of August24news.com, Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim, has presented a specially designed GAC Frame to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.
The Governance Advisory Council (GAC)—the apex decision-making body in Lagos politics—has, since the era of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) as Governor, shaped the state’s political stability and governance model.
The Presentation
The presentation took place at the Speaker’s office in Ikeja, Lagos. The custom-made 24 x 34-inch frame features the names, photographs, local governments, and senatorial districts of all 35 distinguished GAC members, alongside a tribute to the eight late members of the council.
Publisher Ajagbe noted that the frame was meticulously researched and designed by the August24news.com editorial team to celebrate the unity, vision, and service of Lagos political leaders.
“The idea of putting the 35 wise men and women of the GAC in a large frame is to showcase their unity and to honour their invaluable contributions to governance. This will no doubt inspire dedication among current and future leaders in Lagos and beyond,” Ajagbe said.
He added that presentations of the GAC Frame will be extended to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, commissioners, lawmakers, council chairmen, and other party stakeholders across Lagos.
Honouring the Past, Preserving the Future
The frame also features a tribute section to immortalize the late GAC members, including Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson, Ambassador Demola Seriki, Chief Lanre Rasaq (KLM), Oba Olatunji Hamzat, and others, ensuring their legacies remain visible to future generations.
Receiving the frame, Speaker Obasa commended the initiative and the effort of Ajagbe and his team:
“This is a remarkable research effort that documents and honours our political heritage. The frame will be preserved in our archives so future generations can recognize the legends who laid the foundation of Lagos politics,” he said, before calling for a minute’s silence in honour of the late GAC members.
