Youngest Nobel laureate Receives Highest UN Honour

From child activist to international hero; Malala Yousafzai of Pakistani was on Monday appointed as a UN Messenger of Peace  to promote girls education.The appointment was made by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.  The youngest Nobel laureate was shot in the head more four years ago by a Taliban gunman on her way to school on the school bus in 2012

At 19, Yousafzai is the youngest Messenger of Peace, the highest honour given by the United Nations for an initial period of two years. She was also the youngest person to win the Nobel peace prize in 2014 when she was 17.

“You are not only a hero, but you are a very committed and generous person,” Guterres told Yousafzai.
