Super Eagles Drop to 59th Position on Latest FIFA Ranking

super-eagles-3Nigeria’s Super Eagles fell to 12th spot in Africa and 59th globally in the latest FIFA Ranking released on Thursday, November 6.

The fall came despite the senior national team’s win over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun 3-0 in an international friendly in Belgium last month, three-time African champions.

This is Nigeria’s senior national team worst rating in the last 18 months. The team plunged down the ladder seven places to be ranked 12th on the list led by Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroun, Congo, Guinea, Congo DR for the continent’s November top ten standings. Another powerhouse of the game in Africa, Pharaohs of Egypt are in the 11th spot, a step ahead of Nigeria.

In the global ranking, Belgium moved to the top spot for the first time in their football history due largely to the 3-1 win over Israel in their final Euro 2016 qualifier last month.

World Cup winners, Germany are in the second spot with Argentina, Portugal, Chile, Spain, Colombia, Brazil, England and Austria making up the top ten of global soccer.
