As prospective corps members prepare for orientation camp, NYSC urges candidates to verify deployment status, correct personal-data discrepancies and travel safely to their assigned camps.

The National Youth Service Corps has released the deployment list for prospective corps members in the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I service year, marking another important phase in the annual mobilisation of Nigerian graduates for national service.

The scheme announced that deployment details are now available on the NYSC portal, where eligible prospective corps members are expected to check the states to which they have been posted for the mandatory one-year national service.

The release of the deployment list is one of the most anticipated stages in the NYSC mobilisation calendar. For thousands of graduates across Nigeria and from foreign institutions, it marks the transition from online registration to actual preparation for the orientation course.

Prospective corps members are expected to log into their dashboards to confirm deployment status, print their call-up letters, sign the required documents and carefully review reporting instructions, camp requirements and travel advisories.

The NYSC also advised all prospective corps members to avoid travelling to orientation camps at night, citing safety concerns. This warning is especially important given the risks associated with long-distance road travel, poor visibility, fatigue, insecurity and limited emergency response during late-night journeys.

Some Lagos and FCT PCMs to Camp Outside Their States of Deployment

The scheme disclosed that some prospective corps members deployed to Lagos State will undertake their orientation course in camps located in Ekiti, Kwara, Ondo, Ogun and Osun states.

Similarly, some corps members posted to the Federal Capital Territory will have their orientation exercise in Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kano and Kaduna states.

This arrangement is not unusual. Over the years, NYSC has used neighbouring or alternative camps to manage logistics, population pressure and available camp capacity in high-demand deployment locations such as Lagos and the FCT.

For affected corps members, the key point is simple: the place of orientation camp may differ from the state of primary assignment. PCMs must therefore read their call-up letters carefully and report only to the orientation camp specified by NYSC.

Data Accuracy Now Critical for Camp Registration

Beyond deployment, NYSC has again warned prospective corps members to resolve discrepancies in their records before reporting to camp.

The scheme said prospective corps members whose dates of graduation on their call-up letters do not match the dates on their statements of results will not be registered at orientation camps.

Affected candidates were advised to contact their institutions through their Student Affairs Officers to ensure that records are properly corrected before arrival at camp.

NYSC also directed prospective corps members whose names on their certificates or statements of results do not exactly match the names uploaded on the NYSC portal to return to their institutions for proper alignment.

This is a crucial administrative warning. Camp registration is document-driven. Once a candidate’s records do not match, registration may be delayed or denied. For prospective corps members, the safest approach is to verify every detail before travelling: name arrangement, date of birth, date of graduation, institution, course of study and deployment information.

How to Correct Date of Birth on the NYSC Portal

NYSC also outlined the process for prospective corps members seeking to correct their date of birth on the portal.

Affected PCMs are required to obtain a 19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification Pin before starting the correction process.

The procedure is as follows:

1. Obtain a 19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification Pin.
2. Complete NYSC registration and log in to the dashboard.
3. Click on the Correction of Date of Birth link.
4. Enter the WAEC Verification Pin.
5. Select the WAEC examination type and year of examination.
6. Enter the examination number.
7. Click the verify button.
8. Submit the request or cancel if the details are incorrect.

This process underlines the importance of using authentic examination records to resolve age-related discrepancies. Prospective corps members should avoid shortcuts, unofficial agents or unverified correction channels.
