NGX: Market capitalisation expands by 0.28%
The equities market on the Nigerian Exchange Ltd. closed transactions on Wednesday on a positive note by 0.28 per cent rebounding from the five consecutive bearish trading days.
The All share Index (ASI) rose to 47,287.09 from 47,154.35, indicating a Year to Date (YoD return of 10.7 per cent.
Also, market capitalisation rose to N25.485 trillion, from the N25.414 achieved on Tuesday, indicating a 0.28 per cent increase.
The market turnover increased to N5.86 billion from N3.64 billion. The market breadth was positive as 30 stocks appreciated, 12 stocks depreciated and 67 stocks remained unchanged.
Presco recorded the highest price gain of 10 per cent to close at N114.95.
Pharmdeko followed with a gain of 9.89 per cent to close at N2, while Linkage Assurance rose by 9.80 per cent to close at 56 kobo.
Royal Exchange Assurance rose by 9.63 per cent to close at N1.48. R.T Briscoe appreciated by 8.93 per cent to close at 61 kobo.
On the other hand, ELLAHLAKES led the losers’ chart by 9.92 per cent to close at 3.45 kobo.
Mayer and Baker Plc followed with a decline of 9.91 per cent to close at 4.91 while Neimeth Pharmaceutical Plc depreciated by 9.34 per cent to close at N1.65
Niger Insurance declined by 8.7 per cent to close at 21 kobo, while Africa Curtix depreciated by 7.26 per cent to close at N2.30.

Meanwhile, the total volume of trades rose by 62.8 per cent to 291.882 million units, valued N2.855 billion, and exchanged in 4,792 deals as against 754.93 million units, valued N3.64 billion and exchanged in 4,330 deals on Tuesday.

Transactions in the shares of First Bank of Nigeria Holding Plc topped the activity chart with 102.614 million shares valued N1 248 billion.
Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTco) followed with 54.133 million shares worth N1.428 billion, while UCAP traded 25.292 million shares valued N308.507 million.
Zenith Bank Plc traded 22.292 million shares valued N595.014 million, while Carverton Plc transacted 14. 946 million shares worth N19.043 million.
