The World Bank, European Union and other International Development Associations have provided the Federal Government with $300m (N48bn) for the financing of a job creation programme in Nigeria.
The five-year State Employment and Expenditure for Results project has three main components. They are youth employment and access to socio-economic services; public financial management reforms; and project coordination and implementation support at the federal and state levels.
The programme was initiated by the World Bank three years ago in a bid to improve the living conditions of the people of the Niger Delta. This, according to the Secretary to the National Planning Commission, Mr. Ntufam Ugbo, is part of the World Bank’s contributions to the amnesty programme of the Federal Government.
