FIFA Release New World Rankings

FIFA has released the world rankings for men’s football for August with a few countries jumping in positions and some dropping in positions.

Despite finishing third at the world cup, Netherlands dropped a place in the World rankings owing to their European championship qualifiers loss to the Czech republic also, Spain and France both dropped down  a place while Brazil climbed one place above to sixth position. Guatemala jumped 77 places and gained 331 points to be the biggest jumpers this month landing at 57th place. Congo moved up 30 places to 48th owing largely to their win against Nigeria who ranked 37th in the world.

Algeria are the highest ranked team in Africa, ranking 20th in the world. Germany maintain their position as first in the world with Argentina and Colombia making up the top three.
