Union bank @100: Customers urge bank to increase ATM points
The management of Union Bank Plc on Wednesday unveiled a branch of the bank in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State as part of celebrations of its 100 years anniversary.
The Akinrun of Ikirun, Oba Rauf Olayiwola, who led other top officials of the bank to inaugurate the branch which was rebuilt after the February 12, 2016 robbery attack urged the bank to extend their banking hours to the normal time.
The monarch lauded the bank for not deserting the community despite the terrible attack on it , saying other banks which were attacked by the hoodlums had not reopened since.
Akinrun said, ” Union Bank was the first in Ikirun. The bank came when it was Barclay . There was a problem but we thank you that you did not desert us like other banks after the problem ( attack).
“We will solicit for customers for you. We want you to make the branch a functional one. Opening from 9:am to about 11:am or so is not good enough. We want you to extend it we will do everything to support you.”
In order to ease the problem of waiting for long time in the queue while seeking to make withdrawals, the Olobaagun of Obaagun, Oba Okunade Adebisi, encouraged the bank to increase the ATM points to about four.
Oba Adebisi said that one of his nephews collapsed while staying in the queue and eventually died due to exhaustion after saying in queue for so long.
Increasing the ATM points would prevent this type of sad incident from happening, Oba Adebisi said.
One of the oldest customers in the branch, Pa Isaac Oyeniran, according to Punch also appealed to the bank to increase the ATMs at the branch and to extend the banking hours in order to ensure that their customers were more satisfied.
The Transformation Director of Union Bank, Mr. Joe Mbulu, said the bank had undergone a massive transformation, saying the bank could compete favorably with any modern bank anywhere in the world because of its array of customer friendly services.
