NIMASA Reshapes Management, set to Boost Efficiency and Blue Economy Growth
The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced a sweeping redeployment of 56 management staff as part of an internal restructuring strategy aimed at boosting operational efficiency, inter-departmental synergy, and service delivery across Nigeria’s maritime sector.
In a statement signed by Edward Osagie, Head of Public Relations, and released in Lagos on Tuesday, the agency said the shake-up reflects a deliberate effort by the current management to reposition NIMASA for stronger institutional performance in line with its core mandate of maritime safety, security, and blue economy development.
A Strategic Realignment for Greater Impact
Director-General Dr. Dayo Mobereola explained that the redeployment was designed to inject new energy into the system while fostering collaboration across critical departments that drive Nigeria’s maritime growth agenda.
“This restructuring exercise is part of our continuous drive to strengthen efficiency and ensure that the agency delivers optimally on its strategic objectives,” Mobereola said.
“We are building a cohesive team capable of driving sustainable maritime development, deepening the blue economy, and enhancing Nigeria’s global competitiveness.”
Under the new structure, several key directors have been reassigned to pivotal roles to align with the agency’s evolving priorities.

Driving a Culture of Collaboration and Reform
Mobereola urged the redeployed directors to leverage their professional experience and institutional knowledge to accelerate NIMASA’s reform agenda and advance Nigeria’s maritime aspirations.
He noted that the shake-up represents a “deliberate organisational recalibration” aimed at improving communication between departments, enhancing accountability, and streamlining decision-making processes.
“The Nigerian maritime sector is evolving rapidly. To remain effective and responsive, NIMASA must continue to adapt its structure, invest in leadership capacity, and promote innovation,” the Director-General stated.
He added that the agency remains committed to sustainable blue economy growth, reinforcing Nigeria’s leadership in maritime safety, port efficiency, cabotage enforcement, and environmental stewardship.
