Arsenal prepared to spend €18m on Chicharito

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is eager to snap up Javier Hernandez in the January transfer window and is prepared to spend €18 million on the Bayer Leverkusen striker.

Hernandez left the Premier League in the summer after falling out of favour under Louis van Gaal at Manchester United, opting to move to the Bundesliga to join Leverkusen.

The 27-year-old was renowned for his ability in-front of goal in England, but he has taken that to another level in Germany – managing 11 goals in 14 league games this season.

His form has left many thinking why Van Gaal let the Mexico international leave – United have managed just 22 goals in the league as a team this term – and Wenger is one of those doing something about it.

Arsenal are keen to reinforce their frontline to ease the pressure on in-form Olivier Giroud, with Wenger extremely interested in Hernandez.

Sport report that the French tactician is prepared to move in as early as January for Hernandez, with the Gunners open to spending €18m on the former Guadalajara forward.

Hernandez managed 59 goals in 157 games across all competitions during his five years in England, while grabbing nine in 33 matches during a season-long loan at Real Madrid.
