The T200 Foundation, an NGO that provides feeding to the needy in society, has organised a feast for 7,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) camp in Maiduguri.
Speaking at the ceremony on Wednesday in Maiduguri, the Executive Director of the foundation, Mr Emmanuel Osadebay, said the foundation provided cooked meal, assorted food items to support the 4,195 children, 1,555 women and 1,250 men in the camp.
Osadebay said that the foundation established with specific focus in feeding the hungry started in Abuja where it feed 2,000 displaced persons and now 7,000 in Maiduguri before moving to Zamfara.
“We are here today as part of effort to address SDG agenda two on hunger.
“We have the IDPs issue in Borno and we are here to add value on the issue because as a nation we can leave everything about fighting hunger to government.
“We are here to feed the hungry and eliminate hunger,” Osadebay said.
According to him, the foundation will go round the country to put smiles on the face of many.
The Camp Manager, Mr Dala Yaro, lauded the support and urged other organisations to emulate the gesture.
Yaro said that the measures taken by the foundation, including dancing competition and education quiz for children, has brightened the mood of residents and host communities.
Some of the beneficiaries, Joseph Buba, Elizabeth Musa and Fatima Danjuma, expressed gratitude for the support which they said has reached everyone in the camp.
