The Defence Headquarters said on Monday in Abuja that a military patrol team successfully repelled an ambush by insurgents in Buratai community in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
A statement signed by Major General Chris Olukolade, the Director of Defence Information, said that the troops fell into an ambush laid by terrorists while on patrol. It said that the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, killing four of them and capturing one.
“Also in Kawuri in Borno, troops on patrol killed five terrorists in a shootout. The troops also captured two AK-47 rifles and two vehicles used by the terrorists,” the statement said.
