Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State said the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, took its dominance of Nigerian politics for granted by allowing five of its governors to defect to the opposition; All Progressives Congress. He added that despite the defection of governors and the problems in PDP, the party will not implode.
According to him, “What has happened about the five governors defecting to an opposition party is something that is very unfortunate it is something that should not have happened if we were strategic enough”. He said his approach to politics now is to strategize.
“When you have a situation like this, you strategize by going back to the drawing board and you will be surprised at what will happen, and there is going to be a chain of events in a few months that will clearly indicate that Nigerians will vote PDP come 2015. I have no fears at all about that.” He said.
Suswam, who is believed to be one of the very close governors to President Goodluck Jonathan, admitted that the dimension of what is happening within the PDP is different from what has happened in the past.
