Sterling Bank has supported the ‘We Are the Future of our Nation’ (WATFON) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The WATFON initiative is a non-governmental organisation which brings secondary school students together with the aim of having an educative and interactive session with outstanding achievers in the country.
The Group Head, Strategy and Communication, Sterling Bank, Mr. Shina Atilola said that the bank supported the initiative because of its desire to invest in youths who are leaders of tomorrow.
“The provision of a platform for children to meet with accomplished Nigerians, who have excelled in various fields and have thus become role models, will further inspire the children to greatness,” Atilola said.
Last year, Sterling Bank collaborated with the Lagos State government by donating 10,000 branded exercise books for distribution to students of public schools in Lagos and sponsored art competition initiative among children between ages of 14 to 17 years of which proceeds realised were given to charities.
A former gubernatorial aspirant in Lagos State and Pharmacist, Mr. Jimi Agbaje said: “It is important to dream as a young person, but the dream of becoming a rich man is not a dream.
“The real dream is that of the value you want to add to the world you live in. You must want to do well for those coming behind. For anything to be used you have to stand on principles or else it will crumble.”
