Senate receives 2017 budget report
The senate has received the 2017 budget report from its joint committees of appropriation and finance.
The report was laid before the senate on Tuesday by Danjuma Goje, chairman of the senate appropriation committee.
The document which was supposed to be laid on Thursday was postponed to this week to enable the committees of appropriation in the senate and house of representatives make final edits.
“They are meeting with the house committee on appropriation to cross the Ts and dot the Is of the 2017 budget by harmonising and I have also been informed that by the grace of God, the budget 2017 will be laid on Tuesday,” Ahmed Lawan, senate leader, had said.
Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, had also said the committees were putting final touches to the report so that the national assembly could transmit the same document to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.
