Saraki describes Jos Blast as Worrisome, Urges Boko Haram Sect to Embrace Peace

Senate President Bukola Saraki, in reaction to a bomb attack on worshippers at a church in Potiskum, Yobe on Sunday, urged Boko Haram insurgents to“stop wasting innocent lives and accept the olive branch as presented by the federal government.

In a statement issued by the Senate President Media Office in Abuja, Saraki described the attack as worrisome. He said, “My heart is with individuals and families who were directly or indirectly affected by this ungodly, sadistic and evil act.

According to Saraki, sending Nigerians to an early grave can never be the solution to any religious, political or economic grievances.

Senator Saraki said, “Besides, the Federal Government has demonstrated enough political will to engage any group in dialogue aimed at bringing these vicious and sad attacks to a final stop.

He added that, “The recent position of the Federal Government that it would not oppose negotiation with the insurgents if they want ought to have be seen as an olive branch.

Saraki commended the military for its timely response and urged them to continue to do everything in their power to prevent future attacks.

He further urged all Nigerians, especially the Muslims, to use this period of Ramadan to seek God’s intervention on ways and means to end all forms of insecurity in the country.

The senate president promised that the National Assembly would support President Buhari in his determination to encourage the armed forces to intensify the war against terrorism.
