Manchester United has confirmed Wayne Rooney as the new club captain. Following the game against Valencia, the club made the announcement. Rooney was widely expected to be handed the captain’s armband and the England forward would now take the mantle of leadership from the departed Nemanja Vidic.
Darren Fletcher was named as assistant and Manchester United fans would be looking to Rooney as he leads the team this season on the pitch as they try to regain the premier league title
