Hundreds of members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State yesterday protested the outcome of last week’s ward congress as presented by the Otunba Femi Pedro Congress Committee.
They converged on the house of the leader of the party, Chief Akin Olokunboro, along Stadium Road in the state capital, carrying placards of various inscriptions.
They said the integrity and credibility of the congress had been compromised, urging the national leaders of the party to take prompt and decisive remedial action, saying they had no confidence in the entire process.
They stated that the congress only took place peacefully in three of out of the 11 wards in Akure South, adding that the names of the officers elected were substituted.
Addressing a press conference after the protest, Olokuboro lamented that all attempts at reverting “the irregularities and open electoral fraud” perpetrated during the congress were futile.
