Paradigm Initiatve seeks partnership for adequate digital empowerment, economic growth
Paradigm Initiative (PIN) on Thursday called for partnership to achieve adequate digital empowerment for the underserved youths and economic growth of Africa.
Ms Nnena Paul-Ugochukwu, Chief Operating Officer, PIN, said at the 9th edition of Digital Rights Inclusion Forum (DRIF) in Lagos, that there was need for partnership to fuel the growth in the ecosystem.
The forum had the theme: “Towards a Digitally Inclusive Africa”.
Paradigm Initiative is a pan- African social enterprise working to advance digital rights and inclusion in Africa.
Paul-Ugochukwu said that together, the digital divide could be bridged and young Africans raised to confidently navigate today’s digital world.
She said that the partnership would also equip young and underserved youths with capacity to utilise technology in meaningful ways and take advantage of digital opportunities.
According to her, the vision is a digitally inclusive Africa and the belief to a large extent is consensus on what is needed to be done when it comes to digital empowerment.
‘’It is because we know that a digital literate youth population is a catalyst for economic growth.
‘’Our collective goal of a digitally inclusive Africa is crucial not just for the livelihood of young Africans and their immediate communities but for sustainable development and prosperity on the continent.
‘’A thriving workforce and vibrant youth community among other things equals a prosperous Africa,’’ she said.
According to her, as an organisation that is also focused on promotion and development of digital policy, digital literacy is the foundation to build on.
She said that the belief to be at the event was to contribute to digital equity and social inclusion.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that no one is left behind and also our responsibility to narrow the divide and that partnership is the way to share the responsibility,” she said.
NAN also reports that Konetahub, Vision Africa, Aba, Digicox Academy, Uganda, SureAid Development Initiative and Bayelsa among others have keyed into the partnership of digital inclusiveness of youths in underserved communities.
