The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has opened bid for its 2016 offshore crude oil processing agreement with bids from a hundred and one (101) companies.
In his remark at the opening of the bid, the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu said the process was made public as part of the Organisation’s efforts to entrench transparency and accountability.Dr. Kachikwu said that the rehabilitation of the refineries to improve the nation’s capacity to process its crude oil is one of the immediate goals of NNPC.
On her part, the Managing Director of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, Mrs. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue stated that the criteria for final selection include access to refineries and ability to train Nigerian staff
In her words “First of all we are looking at people who have refineries, or access to refineries , they will show us an agreement that has been signed and those who have the muscle to support the arrangement and companies with concrete plan to train Nigerian staff that work in these companies ”
She said the process provided a level playing ground for all the bidding companies.
Some of the representatives of the biding companies expressed satisfaction in the process declaring it as fair and transparent.
Companies that bid for the 2016 NNPC offshore processing agreement include; Emirate National Company Singapore Private Limited, Rainoil, Noble Clean Fuel, North West Petroleum and Gas Company Limited, Shell Western Supply and Trading Limited, SLK Oil and services limited, Vitoil SA, Springfield Sh button limited, Eni trading and shipping, Ontario trading SA, China Zenwa Oil, Slok Nigeria Limited and Optimal Energy Resources Limited
The agreement which is scheduled to commence in January 2016 would last for a period of twelve (12) months, reports VON.
