Nasarawa council chair donates foodstuff to flood victims
The Chairman of Toto Local Government Council of Nasarawa State, Mr Abdullahi Tashas, has donated assorted foodstuff to flood victims in Umaisha community.
The items included 56 bags of 25kg of maize and 44bags of 25kg of rice.
This, he said, was to cushion the effects of the flooding on the victims.
Represented by his Deputy, Mr Abubakar Kwanaki, the chairman urged them to use the food items for the purpose it was meant for.
He added that the donation was part of the council’s commitment to cushion the effect of the flooding on the victims and their family members.
“This donation is in response to the earlier visit by the council’s delegation to the affected communities in Umaisha that were ravaged by flood.
“During our visit, we have ascertained the level of destruction caused by the flood, and today we are donating food items to the flood victims to improve on their standard of living.
“Our administration is poised to alleviate the plight of the flood victims,” he said.
Tashas urged the flood victims to continue to remain focused and prayerful as the state government would come to their aid soon.
Besides, he called on them to support his administration and that of Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed beyond 2023.
While receiving the food items on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Abdullahi Usman, the Ohimege of Opanda and President Toto Local Government Traditional Council, thanked the chairman for his prompt response to the plight of the flood victims in the area.
The first class traditional ruler appealed to stakeholders and other residents to help in providing accommodation to the displaced persons as a sign of brotherliness.
