The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has expressed readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) by selling the values of insurance to the organised private sector.
A statement made available on Thursday in Lagos said that the LCCI President, Dr Michael Olawale-Cole, gave assurance to members of the NCRIB’s delegation, led by its President, Mr Rotimi Edu, during a courtesy visit.
Olawale-Cole noted that the chamber would offer the brokers formidable financial advocacy platforms to propagate knowledge about the values of insurance to business and commerce.
He explained that the two organisations would have a lot to do together under his administration as the president.
Olawale-Cole charged members of the NCRIB to join LCCI, which is the second oldest chamber of commerce in Africa.
In his response, the NCRIB President stated that the council’s visit to LCCI was part of its strategic engagement with professional bodies.
This, he said, is in a bid to propagate its relevance among the organised private sector in Nigeria.
Edu urged that the chamber use its platform to educate its members on the importance of all the compulsory insurances.
He noted that the insurance industry had not taken its rightful place, in terms of patronage and public acceptance
“We will appreciate that your chamber get the NCRIB involved in some of your programmes both at international and national levels by giving room for the council to tell its story.
“If the chamber preaches this to all its members, it will ensure comfortability in times of claims payment,” he said.
