Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has partnered a business support solution company, Integrated Corporate Services (ICS), to provide employment for youth in the state.
Dr Ahmed Apatira, the Executive Chairman of the LCDA, said this at an employment fair organised by the council on Thursday in Lagos.
He said this was part of the council’s contributions to tackling migration induced unemployment rate in the state.
According to him, Lagos has the highest burden of unemployment rate in the country.
“This is factored by the increasing rate of migration from different parts of the country into the centre of excellence daily.
“We have loads of unskilled and unemployed migrants coming into Lagos State every minute.
“And this has overblown the state economy but as a responsive government, we feel the need to complement the efforts of the state government to tackling the menace of unemployment in our LCDA and by extension, Lagos State,” he said.
Mr Kehinde Baruwa, the Secretary to the Local Government, said that the fair was aimed at creating employment opportunities for both skilled and unskilled residents in the state.
He assured that the recruitment process would cut across different vocations, disciplines and qualifications respectively.

Mr Seun Ogundugboye, Head, Recruitment and Selection, ICS, in his remarks advised the teeming youth on the need to acquire vocational skills to complement their educational qualifications.
“The currency of life is to be current. The qualifications you possess is not enough to get you a job, but your skills and attitude will do that for you.” he added.
Also, Mr Moses Okonkwo, Head, Business Development of ICS, said that the fair was to ensure that youths in the state were gainfully employed.
Okonkwo said that his organisation had been at the forefront of providing wide range of outsourcing and business support solutions for businesses globally for over 25 years.
