IMF to assist Angola in fighting money laundering

Angola’s Central Bank on Thursday said that it had signed agreements with the International Monetary Fund for technical assistance to prevent money laundering in the country, NAN reports.

The bank said on its website that the contracts would also help to strengthen its banking supervision and the illegal financing of militant groups.

The apex bank said the agreements which would run for about two years, were aimed at restoring credibility in the Angolan banking sector and re-establishing relations with international financial institutions.
