First Day in Office: Gov. Sanwo-Olu Tackles Flooding, Traffic gridlock, Others in Lagos
Upon his assumption of duty as the newly elected Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu made critical moves against ending the menace caused by flooding, portholes, traffic gridlocks.
The Governor, who vowed that he will rid the state of potholes as well as tackle the minimum wage issue, assumed duty at the state government house in Alausa earlier on Thursday and charged the workers to rededicate themselves to work.

At the secretariat, the governor moved to the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, where he met thousands of civil servants and later toured the secretariat, terminating at the Car Park where he promised to provide civil servants with 40 new buses to replace the dilapidated ones.
During the course of the day, the governor also visited the Ministry of the Environment, Land and Physical Planning, where he addressed jubilant workers.
After appointing Tayo Ayinde as his chief of staff after delivering his keynote speech on his inauguration day, Governor Sanwo-Olu has made another appointment on Thursday being his first day in office.
The Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu appointed former Lagos State Head of Service, Mrs Folashade Sherifat Jaji, as the Secretary to the State Government, SSG.
Meanwhile, in a bid to restore stability and a culture of accountability in the state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also declared state of emergency on the environment and traffic management aspect of the state.
While signing an executive order titled “Re: Enforcement of Law and Order in respect Traffic and Sanitation Matters” on Thursday afternoon, Sanwo-Olu noted that the state of emergency became imperative following incessant traffic and unwholesome sanitation practices that had been major challenges in Lagos State.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the unaddressed traffic and environmental violations continued to constitute a nuisance that threatened the safety and well-being of all citizens.
“There is therefore a need to declare a state of emergency over environmental/sanitation and traffic management matters within the state so as start the process of restoring stability and a culture of to accountability in which all the citizens become active stakeholders in bring about the necessary changes.
