For so long you have been used
Heavily abused and rendered confused
Even as you suffered, they blamed you, your sisters and brothers
They keep doing everything to keep you out and under
Your tomorrow has been mortgaged
Your today, totally damaged
Your person perennially disparaged
Your hopes gruesomely caged
You have been scorned for asking for even the basics
Good education, health, welfare, and jobs are reserved for their families
Not done, you are made to face constant humiliation
As they keep stealing your commonwealth and justice with indignation
They are making you an endangered specie
No food. No love. No life as terror becomes a moving machine
You are taunted when you demand responsibility
Reprimanded when you press for accountability
You are maimed and sometimes killed when you cry aluta
It doesn’t matter even when it is clear they are the looters
With contempt, you are reminded that power belongs to them
Because you are a mere pawn to be used, reused…then condemned
Una mumu never do?
Is a revolution not due?
Why be the tool to be used for rigging elections for them?
Why be the crook to be used for intimidation and violence?
Why be the fool to rush for a few thousand once in four years
While they steal your billions and you remain in sorrow, pain and tears?
They have called you lazy
They have called you crazy
But without them, you have moved on and conquered the world
In music, sports, fashion, art, science and tech, you stand tall
Imagine if you have leaders who support your dreams
Imagine if you fight hard and work to vote that leader into office
Imagine if you don’t leave politics to thieves who steal your dreams
But rather, use your skills, determination and power to get the winning team
Imagine how much better your life could be
Imagine how much greater Nigeria would be
Imagine. Imagine. Imagine.
Use your passion, action and youth energy for a better deal
2023, provides you an opportunity to show them that you mean business
Not only to #EndSARS but also #EndBadGovernance and #StayUnited
Remember, they are already laughing at you
They are saying that there is nothing you can do
They are saying you only spend your time on social media
Now is the time to show up in the field…and be counted.
