Nigeria has recorded first death case from coronavirus pandemic. This was confirmed by the NCDC via its Twitter handle, @NCDCgov, on Monday. It said “The first #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded”.
The case was a 67-year-old male who was said to have returned from the United Kingdom two weeks ago following medical treatment. He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma and diabetes and was undergoing chemotherapy.

He was said to have started exhibiting the symptoms of the virus on Tuesday and the case was reported to the NCDC who took his blood sample for a test.
The patient, Suleiman Achimugu, a native of Kogi state and former managing director of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), died at 2am on Monday.
His family are currently under quarantine at home.
The centre have also announced five new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria including two in the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), two in Lagos State and one in Edo State.
It said there are 35 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria but two have been discharged.
