Actor Johnny Depp tenders apology after Trump Assassination joke

Johnny Depp has apologized for his tasteless joke about assassinating President Trump. In a statement he released on Friday, he said it was a bad joke and that he didn’t mean any harm by it. Adding that the joke he told Thursday to the Glastonbury Festival crowd was in poor taste. The statement partially read:
“It did not come out as intended, and I intended no malice”. “I was only trying to amuse, not to harm anyone.” Depp had joked, “When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?”

In his joke at  Glastonbury Festival on Thursday the Pirates of the Caribbean actor asked a large crowd when was the last time an actor assassinated a president. Depp said to the crowd: “Can we bring Trump here? I think he needs help.

“It is just a question — I’m not insinuating anything. By the way, this is going to be in the press. It will be horrible. I like that you’re all part of it. But when was the last time an actor assassinated a president?”
He followed by saying that he is not an actor, but someone who lies for a living.
He said, it’s “been a while, and maybe it’s time.”
